A few weeks ago, the 6th report about physical basics including the current state and possible futures of climate change, was published by the IPCC.
But who or what actually is the IPCC? The IPCC stands for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and is an organization existing of global experts about climate and natural sciences who provides recent findings about climate change for policy makers.
I first read about the latest IPCC-report on social media. With few information something was clear very fast: The situation is worse than expected. I could not deal with it back then, as I was already overwhelmed by this news. I felt sad, angry but also not really surprised.
I was sad because I love our planet, our home, the earth. I love the beauty of nature, how calming it is and I could wonder all day about what evolution has made possible. It is so incredible! And we are destroying it in making in more and more uninhabitable.
I was angry because I felt like all the little daily action, that I try to remember every day and convince myself that they are important, seems like they do not matter and not make a difference. I am aware of my responsibility for being part of the problem. Our action led to this extent of the climate crisis. But we cannot bear this burden by ourselves, because we are in this together. We also need the big and global institutions to take responsibility and act and behave more ecological, too. To admit it, I often feel overwhelmed by all the possibilities of sustainable efforts and it is still not enough or does not make a difference or does not matter. But it DOES and we cannot stop our actions towards sustainability and protecting our earth. May the efforts be so small, they do matter. As signals too. Signals for like-minded people to keep going, that we are not alone. Signals for politics, big companies and organizations, global players, that we do not want to go on with business as usual.
I was not really surprised; how bad the climate situation really is. I mean, if you are a little bit into the news, it is pretty obvious, that the news aren’t all so well.
WE, the earth, need every little tiny bit of your efforts! But I also want to say, it is okay to feel overwhelmed. If you do so. Just take a break, be easy on yourself, maybe take a step back, switch perspective.
The importance in it is, to keep going, do not stop your efforts. You do make a difference and we all are doing the best we can.
